| Lately I've been spending my time working on my new line of purses and neck wraps. Hats are coming along too. I also have a few items in my Etsy shop.Upcoming Events: Friday, May 10, 2013 Featured artist for SCRAP Humboldt during Arts! Arcata. Thursday, July 4, 1013 Eureka Main Street 4th of July Festival. What I DoI "weld" together repurposed neckties and other recycled materials to make an individual expression you can wear on your head or carry as a bag. The pieces are fun, unique and glamorous. Most of them are made of silk neckties though some are vintage polyester, cotton, wool, rayon, and sometimes acetate. Other materials I use are pieces of vintage jewelry and trims, antique buttons, repurposed fabric, and thread (pretty much the only new material.) How Do You "Reuse'? There are a lot of discarded or unloved items out there just waiting to be reborn. Rumpelsilkskin designs are my way to make fun and beautiful items using materials we already have. Do you have a "creative reuse"? What's your way? Meet me over at the Rumpelblog and share your ideas or see SCRAP Humboldt's website. This is a project I got involved with when I fell in love with "reuse". We just opened the first creative reuse center in Humboldt County! I Am Repurposed and you can too! Is an article I wrote about how I started making necktie hats which then lead me to help start a creative reuse project for the Humboldt community (SCRAP Humboldt.) | Rumpelsilkskin designs are available: In Berkeley at Multiple Threads In San Francisco at Successories in the Button Box Custom orders are welcome.
